There are two columns in the message list that have icons instead of text in them. The first one if the attachment indicator (the heading is a little disk icon). This column will have the little disk icon (the same as the head) or it will be blank. If the icon exists, the message has an attachment. Otherwise, no attachment has been found in the message.
Attachment/security status indicator icons for incoming messages:

A floppy disk indicates the message contains one or more attachments but that the message has not been encrypted or signed with PGP. Note: PGP signatures included in messages are classified as attachments (PGP key fingerprints are not). |

A yellow key indicates that the message has been either encrypted or signed with PGP (or both) but does not contain an attachment. |

A torn white envelope indicates that this is a message you are in the process of composing and have saved to the Drafts folder. This message has not been sent. If you move the message from the Drafts folder to another folder or delete the message, the torn envelope icon will remain. |
